What is the Shadow Self?

 

In Jungian psychology, the "shadow," "Id," or "shadow aspect/archetype" may refer to an unconscious aspect of the personality which the conscious ego does not identify itself, or the entirety of the unconscious, i.e., everything of which a person is not fully aware. In short, the shadow is the unknown side. Wikipedia

 

The ”Shadow Self” is a hidden aspect of self that exist to protect a trauma, wound, experience or fear that one experienced in their life and prevents them from living a free life. Instead, one can be defensive or passive, controlling or controlled, narcissist or enabling, limited or reckless, self-effacing or self-centered, self effective or self-deceptive. The list can go on. However, one can get the point of how a hidden aspect could be ruling a person’s life, and they can be unaware of it.

 

One quick way to tell is if you feel you are living the life for you, however, you are not happy, experience a lot of adversities, conflicts and disappointments in your life, especially in relationships, marriage, work environment, family members and/or friendships, chances are there is a hidden aspect that is up for review and release. 

Soul 2 Soul: Shadow Journey 

 

Soul 2 Soul Shadow Journey is for individuals who are ready to become aware of their unconscious self. The part of themselves they either don’t realize they possess strength in or are operating out of dysfunction, guilt, lacks, trauma &/or pain. 

THE AWARENESS OCCURS BY DOING THE WORK.

Soul Work consist of applied energy towards intentionally shifting one's mental thought process, triggers, and default responses.

Soul Work requires one to be WILLING and RESPONSIBLE for their change.

One must be willing to be vulnerable, honest, transparent, accountable, open and receptive to being interrupted in their process in order for the new process to be introduced and above all, to open up one's heart with compassionate for themselves and others. 

 

Soul work requires various tools that assist in the transformation process.

Some of the tools that can be used for soul work are:  

journaling, consistent affirmation, crystals, spiritual baths, sound and energy therapy

release exercises: crying, healthy and constructive release of tension,   

 

The number one required responsibility is the acceptance of proactive changes.

 

Examples of proactive changes are;

* Release victim mentality.

* Take responsibility for your actions, thoughts, and feelings.

* Have patience, grace and compassion for your and other's journey.

* Listen to other's experience(s) of you without the need to defend, excuse, justify, or validate.

* Identify and be mindful of narcissistic tendencies, passive/aggressive bullying, and     emotional manipulation. 

* Let go of the old, open up to new experiences.

* Recognize yourself in others and hold sacred space for yourself.

* Become aware of your triggers and release them by facing them.

* Stop numbing, or pain/thought distractors. (drugs, marijuana, alcohol, opioids, hallucinogenics, psylocibins, sugars, artificial foods/drinks, tobacco, emotional feeding from others rather than dealing with your issues, superficial & meaningless relationships, meaningless sexual experiences, over working, trauma bonding, and anything that causes one to not have the compacity to deal with reality, create victim mentality, escapism, or alter one's emotional stability.)

* Apologize without expectation.

* Take responsibility for your thoughts, words, actions.

* Say no.

* Reclaim your voice and speak up for yourself.

* Set healthy boundaries.

* Let go of the need to be right or validated.

* Develop and own your sense of personal integrity.
